Quay Festival in Vesterø

Every Saturday in week 29, Vesterø Football Club holds its annual Kajfest at Vesterø Harbour. Here, holidaymakers and residents of Læsø meet for a day filled with lots of activities, entertainment for the whole family, coziness, food, and drinks – and of course, all in a festive atmosphere. It is also important that the proceeds go to Vesterø Football Club and, among other things, the work with the club's youth!

The Kajfest begins with morning coffee and bingo with many great sponsored prizes. All day long, there will be good music, coziness, and other entertainment. There is no entrance fee.

Always a great show

The Kajfest traditionally features an action-packed super show – it could be gymnasts, motorcycles, or trick bikes, as it was in 2019 and will be again in 2024. Regardless, the show is always a major attraction, creating plenty of experiences and atmosphere for both spectators, volunteers, and organizers.

Kajfest – also for kids and teens

The Kajfest is a full-day event with cozy activities for both children and adults. There is, for example, face painting as a regular feature, and later in the day, street football for kids.

No food or drink

The Kajfest traditionally opens with a large breakfast buffet followed by a bingo game. Starting from 10 a.m., the food tent opens to satisfy even the earliest hunger: Here, you can find waffles, homemade baked goods, coffee, fish cakes with rye bread, French hot dogs, sausages with bread, burgers, popcorn, and slush ice – all at reasonable prices.

In the evening, you can purchase a delicious dinner menu.

Music on two stages

In the evening, there is music on several different stages, where you can choose between folk music, blues/rock, and traditional dance music. There are both outside performers and local artists such as Eno Flier.

Strong effort by the volunteers

Læsø is the island of volunteerism. Here, there is a dedicated corps of volunteers who always step up when there is work to be done – from baking cakes, setting up tents, serving food, pouring draft beer, cleaning up, and all the other tasks that contribute to the success of the festival for the guests – and not least, to a profit that is well-spent; namely in the coffers of Vesterø Football Club, where, among other things, the club's extensive youth work benefits from the money.

The Kajfest in Vesterø benefits from a long-standing tradition among both the island's regular corps of volunteers and many young people, both locals and those who have moved away, along with their friends, who show up every year to lend a hand. The thanks are an after-party and, above all, the pleasure of being part of a team and a community. So when you celebrate and enjoy the Kajfest in Vesterø, remember: it brings joy to many others besides yourself. Thank you for that!

A crowded harbour

”Kajfest

It is Vesterø Harbour that provides the asphalt and quay space for the Kajfest, a tradition that dates back many years. The Kajfest is also a tradition for many guests, both locals and visitors from Frederikshavn and other places in North Jutland. As a result, Vesterø Harbour is almost always filled to the brim with sailors in the days around the Kajfest. The Sunday after the Kajfest is one of the very few days of the year when the Læsø ferry Margrete can also experience being completely full of foot passengers – nearly 600 people!
